Fifa World Cup grips the globe every four years. ‘Goals’ are toasted and flags are waved as the World Cup seizes the heart of people everywhere in the world. It has continues to grow in statue and popularity of the public that are tuning in to follow the game very closely. The World Cup is not just only about football, other than it is also an event that can enchant and engage those who are not interested in sport.

Many Singaporeans are enthusiastic over football with several matches and so many people are making a choice between their loyalty profession and passion for the game. Moreover, employers should embrace the spirit of football,by building employee morale through celebration and a culture of teamwork. While business is bound to be affected to some extent by the World Cup, there are actions that can be taken by employers in order to minimize disruption and maintain smooth operation, is trying to accommodate the preferences of employees ardent to watch the games.

However, employers experienced about the level of absenteeism and results in the productivity loss by the business during the tournament. As a result, they should keep track on those employees who are involved in all the projects that have to be completed during the tournament period. To evade deadlines and other disruption arise from manpower shortage, temporary staff can fill the gaps where needed if the staff working on such projects is fervent football fans.

Thousands of people are glued to their television or computer screens because of the post match celebrations or lack of sleep, as fans in some cases may stay up till early hours of the morning just to watch the games, and probably be sleepy or even absent for work the next day. For final approaches some people are likely to watch replays on their computers in the office, having post match discussions, as well as participate in online forums.

Firms in Singapore ought to show respect to employees passions by allowing flexible working hours, shift swops and even unpaid leave to make sure that they can obtain pleasure in the spectacle, while still maintained workplace professionalism. In some other countries, there are people that demonstrate their passion for football by quitting their job just to watch the World Cup. World Cup party like football fanatic around the world, are all set to immerse in the World Cup fever. Bar owner, manager of electronics store in addition to beer dealers can't wait to welcome money splashing customers as the most watched sport event in the world that takes off.

Some employers have adopted a selective and conditional approach, making any leave reliant on the company condition at the time including the employee function and role. Others have sought to benefit from the games as a channel for social interaction and a team building initiative among the staff.

The World cup season has finally begun. Football fans are anticipating to watching the match and start their soccer craze. Football fans mostly comprises of adults. Employers seem to be concerned on the productivity of their employees.

Employees will be unable to concentrate on their assigned tasks and will shift their focus towards World Cup. Many will take leave and level of absenteeism will increase. A handful of employees might even lie to their employers and obtain a fake medical record just to watch the World Cup. Having late nights and short sleeps, employees will have lack of sleep. They will not produce quality work the next day. In the office, employees will tend to strike a conversation on football with their colleagues and get engrossed with the topic. As the World Cup is telecast in the middle of the working afternoon which is during the working hours, employees might watch the match from their office computers. Employees who are doing their work feel disturbed and distracted. Projects might be unable to progress smoothly and should be rescheduled since many people are passionate about the World Cup.

Employees should just accept it if they are unable to watch the match during their working hours. They can view it online after working hours. On the other hand, I feel that employers should understand the World Cup fever. I believe that employers themselves also watch the World Cup. Project deadlines are advised to due before and not during the World Cup season. After all, the World Cup comes round only every four years.

What comes every 4 years?
With 20 people chasing a ball during a match?
With happiness, joy, anger, tears, disappoinments and all kinds of emotion?
When games like this cause unexpected reactions?

Yes!!It's the WORLD CUP!!
After 4 years of waiting from the last World Cup in 2006.
Finally football lovers can watch 32 countries from over the world competing
to get the title which is what they all have been waiting for. However, did we
ever think of how will World Cup affect our daily life? World Cup matches are
broadcasted during the night in Singapore at the timing of 7pm, 10pm and 2.30am.
It would be a bad timing for football lovers who are working in Singapore to watch
the soccer match as they sacrifice their sleeping time to watch the match instead
of replenish their energy. This infact cause a huge headache on employers as employees
will be feeling half dead when they reach the office in the morning. It slows down their
working speed as well as the morale to do work as they are tired. More over, football lovers
would actually take fake leaveor long leave in order to watch their football match. This in
turn cause the company to lose manpower hence slowing down the workplace productivity. In addition, they would get themselves involved in group discussion chats online reviewing the recent match while on work. However, there are solutions in handling such issues in Singapore.
Companies can hire temporary staffs to cover their gap while allowing football lovers to enjoy the World Cup matches. In this way, the workers are satisfied and their morale is high. This will in turn affect their mentality in working as they are happy that they can watch the matches.

Similarly in China, almost 3/4 percentage of employees would consider watching match late at night. Some would even quit their job to watch World Cup. From these situations, we can see that the population are very engaged in World Cup. This is how World Cup is being viewed by the people.

In England, the World Cup are broadcasted in the afternoon where just few hours before their knock off timing. Workers would rush and complete their work in order to leave early so that they could watch their own nation playing in the qualifying round which sees them either packing their bags heading home or extending their stay. This infact affects the quality of the work that they produce as they rush to complete them.

World Cup has always been an event which is well known over the world. If football lovers would to miss this year's World Cup, they would have to wait for another 4 boring years before the excitement pours around again. This could also be one of the reason why so many people are eager to abandon their job and watch World Cup. In addition, as a student, I would also sacrifice my sleep in order to catch the World Cup match. Brazil vs Chile at 2.30am. My post stops here. I'll be heading to bed and getting up for the midnight match!!

Infact, the whole world watches World Cup.
Even the students, adults and who knows, lecturers and teachers?
